Policies and Terms & Conditions

BOOKINGS, DEPOSITS & PAYMENTS

To secure the date time of services, the client must sign and return this contract along a non-refundable, non-transferable retainer of 50% of the total cost The reservation is not confirmed until both the contract retainer are received. The remaining balance is due in full 14 days prior to cake due date.

CAKE CHANGES

Please note that any cancellations or changes to your order regarding the event date, size, style, flavors, etc., must be made in writing. If changes are requested after the retainer payment but before the final payment, charges may apply. The final payment due date is the last opportunity to make any cancellations or changes. After this lock date, we cannot accept any modifications to your order.

DESIGN & COLOR MATCHING

At our bakery, we pride ourselves on creating unique and original cake designs. While we welcome photos, we will not replicate another artist's work exactly. Please note that while we strive to match your color requests, variations may occur due to differences in monitor displays and the nature of edible colors. Our commitment is to uphold the structural and artistic integrity of each creation, which may lead us to make last-minute adjustments as needed.

CANCELLATION POLICY

All cancellations must be submitted in writing and are not eligible for refunds. Please note that once our dates are fully booked, we have to turn away potential clients, especially during peak seasons when dates can be reserved months in advance. Since all our items are handmade and made to order, any retainer or payments made are non-refundable if an order is canceled. However if your event date changes due to illness, emergency, or other circumstances, we are happy to transfer any made to another order within three (3) months of the original date.

DELIVERY FEES

Delivery within a 10-mile radius of Glengarry Drive, Bloomingdale, is completely free of charge. For deliveries outside this radius, a mileage fee of $0.20 per mile (both ways) will be applied. We strive to make your experience convenient and affordable!

ORDER PICKUP

If you elect to pick up your order you will be given a pickup date and time. We expect you to be timely and plan accordingly. Tardiness may default to a different pickup date & time as per BAKE LANE ILLINOIS availability.

Failure to pick up your order within 24 hours of the scheduled date and time will result in forfeiture of your order, no refund will be given, and we reserve the right to resell your order.

 

Once you or your designated party have picked up an order it is considered “accepted.” If there is something wrong with general design upon pick up, you must let us know then and if possible, we will adjust the design before you depart. Additional fees may apply to any last-minute design change.

 

Once products leave our possession, you and any representatives you elect to pick up your order assume ALL liability and responsibility for the condition of your order. BAKE LANE ILLINOIS will no longer accept any responsibility for damage to the product thereafter.

ALLERGENS

"At BAKE LANE ILLINOIS, we want to ensure that our guests are informed about potential allergens in our products. Our offerings may or come into contact with milk, wheat, nuts, soy, and other allergens. By enjoying our treats, you agree to notify your guests of this risk and hold BAKE LANE ILLINOIS harmless for any allergic reactions."

COMPLAINTS & DISPUTES

We’ve never received a complaint but take them and our customer satisfaction very seriously. In case of any dispute, the client must notify BAKE LANE ILLINOIS to resolve any issue first. Decision to forgo contacting BAKE LANE ILLINOIS directly and instead choose to take to social media platforms, websites, or any other means of communication regarding dissatisfaction or citing BAKE LANE ILLINOIS business name, product, or referring to BAKE LANE ILLINOIS and/or its likeness will be constituted as slander thus permitting lawful action against client.

CAKE SERVING SIZE AND STORAGE

Serving size estimations are not guaranteed to be exact. However, BAKE LANE ILLINOIS warrants all cakes will provide at least the requested number of servings when properly served according to the standard size. BAKE LANE ILLINOIS cannot be held responsible for shortage of goods if slices are cut too large. A cutting guide can be supplied on request.

 

Cakes should be kept on a flat, sturdy surface and out of direct sunlight with an optimal room temperature not to exceed 75 degrees. Be mindful in maintaining cool air temperature during transport and securing your box to keep movement minimal to ensure your order stays intact.

 

Cakes are to be covered and stored in the refrigerator and brought to room temperature before serving for optimal taste. Cakes are best consumed within three days of collection. Any consumption of cake after this is at the customers’ discretion and, therefore, becomes the customers’ responsibility. Cakes can be frozen to consume later.

LIABILITY

BAKE LANE ILLINOIS is not responsible for any delay or inability to supply based on accidents, natural disasters, transportation issues, inclement weather, illness, death, labor troubles, delay in supplies, disputes or strikes, or any other acts of God or circumstance beyond our control. If we cannot provide another competent baker, all money received by the baker, minus the expenses, will be returned to client, and BAKE LANE ILLINOIS shall have no further liability with respect to this agreement.

REFUNDS AND EXCHANGES

Refunds in the form of store credit may be given if the product is deemed inedible for consumption caused by BAKE LANE ILLINOIS. We must be notified within 12 hours of pickup or delivery, and product must be returned within 24 hours of the pickup or delivery time. No store credit will be considered if cake is served, tampered with and is not returned at the said time for further investigation. Quality determination is at the sole discretion of BAKE LANE ILLINOIS.

 

No exchange or refund of any kind will be honored for change of mind, decorating style, color shade, general design, cake flavor/texture (which is subjective), or any reasons other than defect/faults caused by us the manufacturer that leave the product inedible.

 

Upon pickup or delivery if your order does not meet your expectations, we will give you a store credit (no cash/monies will be given) minus 25% handling/cancellation fee. NOTE: If we give you credit, you cannot keep the product. You can only get the store credit if you refuse to “accept” the product. We will not negotiate a partial refund if you keep the product. This is a “take it or leave it” policy to avoid those trying to “get a free cake.” We are not responsible for any expense you may incur for replacing our product.
